At Henning McKenzie we conduct psychological assessments of individuals to identify their strengths, together with their learning, vocational and social/emotional needs. We produce user-friendly assessment reports that clarify specific learning issues and areas of functioning such as attention skills, daily living skills, personality, emotional well-being and social adjustment. We focus on providing recommendations that are helpful, practical and realistic.

We offer psychological assessment in the following areas:

  • Intellectual ability
  • Academic achievement
  • Diagnosis of specific learning disabilities
  • Adaptive skills
  • Attention deficit
  • Working memory
  • Personality
  • Vocational interest

We are happy to provide consultation and information to inquiries on any of the above and welcome your questions. Please contact us to arrange a consultation.

Assessment of Children

Every child and adolescent is unique. An important part of our work is identifying and addressing academic and emotional challenges facing children from pre-school to Grade 12. These challenges may include attention problems, reading delays, writing problems, math difficulties, as well as emotional and behavior adjustment (anger management, conflict with peers, obsessive/compulsive behavior, anxiety).

Are you asking any of the following questions about your child?

  • What is my child’s ability? What are his/her learning strengths?
  • My child has difficulty with writing. Does she/he have a learning disability?
  • Does my child have dyslexia?
  • Does my child have an attention deficit?
  • Is my child depressed or anxious?
  • What can I do to help my child be more successful at school?
  • Why does my child have trouble making and keeping friends? How can I help?

If any of these are your concerns, you may wish to have your child assessed.

We are happy to provide consultation and information to parents and educators about any of the above concerns and welcome your questions. Please contact us to arrange a consultation.

Assessment of Adults

Adults may seek an assessment to provide objective information regarding their abilities, learning needs, daily living skills or emotional well-being. College students who are having academic struggles, adults making career transitions or those seeking eligibility for community or government programs may benefit from an assessment. We work collaboratively with individuals to produce assessment reports that clarify areas of difficulty while detailing strengths and abilities.

Recommendations are designed to help guide decisions, access resources and provide concrete suggestions about the next steps to take. If you would like more information about the assessment process and its usefulness in dealing with life issues, we welcome your enquiries. Please contact us to book a consultation.
